Diabetes dramatically increases our chances of suffering from cardiovascular and renal disease, depression, and even limb amputations. It can reduce our lifespan between 5-15 years and is more common among those 64 and older.Diabetes affects women differently than men, with woman facing a higher risk for heart disease. Diabetes also increases the risk of dementia.
