If so, researchers have good news for you. They also have potentially good news for teenagers. As the brain changes during adolescence, IQ scores can increase significantly.Coffee and DepressionWomen who drink two to three cups of coffee a day are 15% less likely to suffer from depression. Those who drink four or more cups of coffee are 20% less likely to be depressed. Unfortunately, decaf does not offer any of these benefits. These results came from a 10-year study led by a Harvard professor in the School of Public Health.Although drinking coffee is correlated with experiencing less depression and lower rates of suicide, scientists aren’t ready to say caffeine causes these reduced rates. Still, you can read their theories about why caffeine may work positively in the brain in the “Archives of Internal Medicine.” Although drinking coffee is beneficial, too much caffeine intake can increase anxiety. Also pregnant women should follow their doctor’s recommendation concerning caffeine intake.
